Bulgaria is located in the South East of Europe, bordering to Romania, Turkey, Greece, Serbia and Macedonia and the black sea. Bulgaria’s landscape shows a great variety: While the south western part is quite mountainous with peaks up to nearly 3000 metres and in the southeast you can relax in a hilly landscape and plains with a Mediterranean climate. Bulgaria is rich with freshwater streams and has a long stretch of the lower Danube, which is of international importance.
The capital of Bulgaria is Sofia with about 1.4 Million inhabitants. All in all about 7.7 Million people live in Bulgaria. Since 2008 Bulgaria has been a member of the European Union.
