GREY 2 GREEN AREA
Our school sent an official request to the Mayor of Bucharest for getting a small “grey” area in Bucharest in order for our students to „transform“ it into a green area (cleanning, planting trees, flowers, etc).

TuBishvat
We link the Hebrew holiday, TuBishvat (The New Year of the Trees) with an annual “Ecology Week” during the same period of time. This year, we celebrated TuBishvat in the last week of January. „The ECO WEEK“ came to life due to the project „ Grey to Green“ and we intend to turn it into a tradition.

From grey to green
“From Grey to Green”
Bucharest – yesterday, today and tomorrow

Grey to Green initiative intends to expand the city’s green infrastructure, to stop the spread of invasive plants, to restore the native vegetation, to protect sensitive natural areas.
The project, which is now in progress at Lauder-Reut High School, is based on the idea of ecological modernisation, where Bucharest is to develop towards a greener society, guided with the principles of ecology for a better and safer environment.
This project includes the opportunity of cooperation between teachers and students in order to become more responsible about the ecological and social environment. History, environmental education, traditions and ecology are the main topics of the project.
The project started in November 2009 , with the already-existent recycling program - collecting paper, during all school year, in which we involved the students, their parents as well as the teachers.

ABOUT US

  * The Lauder-Reut School Complex, Romania (Hebrew "reut" = "friendship") is a part of a generous educational project, initiated in the 80’s and supported by the Ronald S. Lauder Foundation in other 15 European countries, founded by the renown businessman and philanthropist, former US Ambassador to Vienna, Mr. Ronald S. Lauder.

   * Established in 1997, the Lauder Reut School Complex carries the mission stated by the international Ronald S. Lauder Foundation, to revive and preserve the Jewish culture and Hebrew language in the European Diaspora, devastated after the Holocaust period and the Communist regime.

   * The complex has been rapidly developing, as well as the over 50 similar educational institutions from Europe, on the multicultural background, with a bilingual educational offer (Romanian-English), under the authorization of the Romanian Ministry of Education and Research.
   * Now Lauder-Reut hosts 260 students in the kindergarten, lower and middle school, and it has become one of the elite private schools in Romania, which has developed as a successful alternative to the public schools in the country.
   * In the school year 2006-2007, The Lauder-Reut High School is opening, with a theoretic profile (arts and science) and an extra school offer of business, media and diplomacy.
