GENERAL INFORMATION
Founded in 1963 as a state secondary school with a five-year course of training with teaching foreign languages. Its graduates acquire wide general culture and knowledge in the field of humanitarian and nature-mathematical sciences, and in their manners.
PREMISES AND ENVIRONMENT
Situated in a park near the Danube river, the school provides the necessary conditions for profound educational activities and rewarding recreation. Training is carried out in an ancient building of unique architecture from the first decades of the century – vaulted ceilings and large windows with wrought iron gratings.
In the park there are few sports grounds.
REALISATION – A CRITERION OF MERIT
The merits of a school are measured by the realisation of its graduates. Some of them come back here as teachers. About 99 per cent continue their studies in higher educational establishments in different subjects: philology, medicine, international relations, economics, engineering, etc. Many of the students orientate themselves towards research or social management.
COURSE OF TRAINING
The academic curriculum comprises a wide range of compulsory subjects – languages ,biology, mathematics, geography history, chemistry,computer science, sport, arts,free choice training (humanitarian and nature-mathematical subjects).

Those are the teachers – more than 30 talented and enthusiastic specialists in various educational subjects.
The pedagogic staff aims at providing students with solid humanitarian education. Special attention is paid to innovation and creativity in the training methods and to developing students’ talents.
The intersubject approach and the differentiated education are the basic methods in class and extracurricular studies.
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
The students have the opportunity of going in for sports – handball,football,basketball, volley-ball, folklore dances and aerobics.
CULTURAL PROGRAMMES
The school organises excursions and visits to historic sights,theatre and opera performances, folklore festivals.
SCHOOL ACTIVITIES
Lectures, a school festival, annual theatre performances, concerts and recitals are carried out.
INTEGRATED ACTIVITIES
A town of old cultural traditions, unique architecture, rich historic valuables, Ruse offers a suitable atmosphere for extracurricular intersubject activities, as well as for cultural recreation and entertainments.
The school integrates its work in various fields with cultural institutes – theatre, opera, with research institutes, research centres, production enterprises, with other schools and higher educational establishments.
ADMITTING STUDENTS
The admission examinations in Bulgarian language and mathematics ensure a selection among the successful graduates of seventh class from all over the country.
Along with the basic course of training in the unified secondary schools, the students here intensively learn English as the first foreign language, and German , French, Russian – as the second.
For excellent grades or insufficient income they are granted scholarships.
